Vehicle sources, revisions, and limitations

TowLoad Guide gives priority to official manufacturer material and preserves enough provenance to distinguish a title or URL from the exact binary that was reviewed.

Source hierarchy

  1. Exact-vehicle evidence: certification, tire/loading, and occupant-and-cargo labels; the applicable Owner's Manual; equipment documentation; and measured loaded weights.
  2. Official manufacturer reference material: model-year trailering guides, ordering guides, specifications, and technical publications.
  3. Government or standards material: used for definitions or requirements within its stated jurisdiction and scope.
  4. Secondary material: useful for discovery or cross-checking, but not a substitute for traceable primary ratings.

Why revisions and hashes matter

A manufacturer can replace a PDF at the same URL. TowLoad Guide records SHA-256, embedded document metadata, retrieval context, page and table locators, and revision relationships. A later binary is not accepted merely because its filename or title matches.

The later accepted revision and predecessor contain the same 51 scoped configurations and all 102 GCWR/towing values. The canonical Chevrolet URL may still return the predecessor. Document-level differences outside this page's scope do not change the published Silverado table.

Comparison-rating conditions, GCWR definitions, equipment notes, and general tongue-weight guidance remain attached to the records they qualify. General guidance is not converted into a configuration-specific limit.

TowLoad Guide links to manufacturer material but does not redistribute the complete Chevrolet PDF. Chevrolet does not endorse TowLoad Guide. Source links can change or disappear, so users should verify the document and exact vehicle evidence before relying on a reference value.
